Reflections on Practicing Bach’s “Goldberg Variations”

Bach = Composer + Scientist + Mathematician + Perfectionist

My thoughts while practicing the “Goldberg Variations”

Highly Scientific Musical Structure – The music exhibits a high level of precision and logic, with each note calculated as meticulously as a mathematical formula.

Balance of Rationality and Art – Despite its strict structure, the music conveys a rich emotional language. The relationships between the different voices are incredibly complex.

Fusion of Form and Freedom – Each variation introduces different elements, achieving a unity that is full of diverse possibilities.

The Concept of Learning through Variations – This work is monumental and serves as an excellent model for future composers to study and learn from.
